Meet the Team: Roberta

Meet the Team: Roberta

"I am the earring queen! I like that the earrings require some extra skill to make and that they are portable. I can take my little jewelry making kit anywhere and have - to many beaches on Martha's Vineyard, on the ferry, on trips in this country and to Africa, Haiti and beyond when I travel in my work as a song leader and collector."

How did you come to work at Stefanie Wolf Designs and how long has it been?

I started working at SWD back in 2011 when the studio was in our original Oak Bluffs location in the Arts District, because my daughter Marta, then a high school student, was recruited to make jewelry.

I thought it would be nice to have an additional source of income for work that I could do at home. I have always been good at anything that requires fine motor skills so it was fairly easy for me to get started and become one of the team.

What is your favorite piece of jewelry to make and why?

I am the earring queen! I like that the earrings take some extra skills and that they are portable. I can take my little jewelry making kit anywhere and have - to many beaches on Martha's Vineyard, on the ferry, on trips in this country and to Africa, Haiti and beyond when I travel to collect songs.

What do you like to do when you're not working?

I like to sing! I am a song leader and song collector and my goal in life, actually my life's work, is to help regular people to sing regularly. I love building community and connecting hearts across difference by helping people to sing together.

How would you describe your personal style?

I do dress up occasionally but I am an old hippy and mostly care about being comfortable!

What's your favorite piece to wear?

Believe it or not, I hardly ever wear any jewelry! I do enjoy making many of the different earring styles and giving them as gifts, which are always appreciated.

Please tell us a fun fact about yourself.

I wake up before dawn pretty much every day in order to watch the sunrise over the Lagoon near my house.

Below is an image of Roberta with her daughter Teo, who ALSO helps us make jewelry! More on her soon... We are lucky to have these talented and kind-hearted women on our team.
