Helayne's unfaltering attention to detail has earned her the nickname "Eagle Eye Helayne" around the studio. She carefully reviews each piece of jewelry our team creates to ensure that everything is top quality. Anything that she deems less than perfect goes in the sale bin for a future sample sale. Helayne is also the pottery artist behind our Vineyard Keepsake Bowls.
How did you come to work at Stefanie Wolf Designs and how long has it been?
I met Stefanie as a fellow artisan at the Artisans Festivals. I thought it would be fun to work as part of the team , so when a job opened up I jumped at the opportunity. That was five years ago.
What do you like to do when you're not working?
When I’m not at work I enjoy time spent in my backyard studio making pottery and beaded barrettes. I enjoy walks in the woods and on the beach with family and friends. The natural beauty of this island never ceases to amaze and inspire me.
What's your favorite piece to wear?
My favorite SWD jewelry to wear are earrings. I wear them all the time. My fave earrings are the Crystal Dangle earrings and the Full Circle Teardrop earrings. I have both designs in several colors and love that I can wear them even when I’m in the pottery studio with my hands in clay.
How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style is fairly casual and artsy. My favorite SWD jewelry combo to wear together are: the Champagne Medley double strand Bracelet with the White Swirl Crystal Dangle Earrings. The pearls and stones combined with the glass tiles are gorgeous. They go with everything and are so elegant.
What's your favorite SWD jewelry pairing from SWD?
My fave Trilogy combo to wear together is the Watercolor triple strand necklace and matching triple strand bracelet and earrings. I love the Watercolor combo and the abundance of the multiple strands makes every day feel like a special occasion.
What is your favorite piece of jewelry to make and why?
My favorite SWD jewelry to make is the Trilogy Single Strand Bracelets in the various color combinations. My faves are Watercolor, Montana, and Wampalyke. I love the different color combos and how the tiny seed beads create the perfect amount of space between the tiles for comfort and aesthetics. The adjustable clasp makes them easy to wear as well. I also melt the transparent glass tiles in my pottery. To say that I’m bead obsessed is an understatement.
Can you share a fun fact about yourself?
Fun fact about myself: I am a longtime Grateful Dead fan since 1980. Inspired by the beadwork at the shows I taught myself how to make intricate seed bead jewelry and beaded barrettes.
