Getting excited to jetset to a relaxing break? You won’t want to forget these items...
You’ve been looking forward to heading out of town all year and your trip is finally booked. Sometimes half the fun of going on vacation is planning it and looking forward to it. As you prepare for your journey and pull together your essentials here are a few things to keep in mind.
1. Beach coverup
The perfect way to get yourself to the beach or pool is by flinging on a cover up. Whether it’s a simple kimono, sarong or a semi-sheer dress, this item works great over a bathing suit or as an easy way to dress up jeans and a t-shirt! We have a festive and colorful collection of beach kimonos in the shop.
2. Versatile jewelry
As much as I adore all my jewelry, there’s no way I can fit it all in my suitcase! That’s why I always reach for my most versatile pieces - the ones that can be worn multiple ways. I recommend our Trilogy Long Necklace that can be worn 7 ways as well as the long gold leaf strand. This one goes with everything and can be worn as a long necklace, a bracelet, or a shorter necklace.
3. Safe jewelry
Leave your precious gold and diamonds at home and pack some fun and versatile jewelry instead! Rest easy knowing your heirlooms safe while you travel. Pack a pop of color in your suitcase with our long beaded necklaces and gold and silver layering chains.
4. Cashmere poncho
I highly recommend our 100% cashmere poncho. This one piece can serve as a shawl on cool nights or as a cozy extra layer or blanket on the plane. Plus, it’s super cute!
5. Turkish towel
If you haven’t heard of Turkish towels yet, now is the perfect time to get to know about this product. Pros know: these towels pack up small, dry quickly and make great beach towels, picnic blankets and sarongs. My family has one in each color so we don't mix up our towels at the beach!
Start disconnecting the moment you step on the plane with these easy activities
If you’re anything like me, it takes you a few days to really settle into relaxation station. By the time I start to feel myself disconnect, the trip is basically over! I’ve learned to do a few things as soon as I step on the plane so that I can max out my time away.
The plane ride is the perfect time to begin diving into your hobbies and entertainment and disconnecting from news, work and the rest of the world.
- Crack open a good book - Whether you prefer your kindle or the gold old fashioned paper kind of book, letting your mind wander to another place is the best activity to start disconnecting from the daily grind.
- Bring along a creative, portable hobby - knitting, meditative coloring, silly putty. Anything to get idle hands moving on something other than your keyboard.
- No electronics? Be sure to include offline activities to keep you occupied when electronics aren’t possible. Magazines and newspapers, crosswords and word searches are a few of my favorite things to do.
Tip: Remember to download any games, movies or apps that you might need onto your phone or iPad in advance!
It’s not all fun & games, don’t forget to pack a few things for health and safety
Trust me, nothing ruins a vacation faster than a sunburn! Here are a few things to make sure to pack so you can stay active and outside the entire time!
- SPF - Did you know that no matter where you live, you really should wear sunscreen daily? Then, depending on how far south you travel, you’ll want to bump up the SPF to avoid getting sunburns.
- Sunglasses and a hat - Look fashionable while also protecting your skin! Pack your shades and sun hat now before you forget! It's easy to overlook these items in the dead of winter when they are stowed away.
- Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes - I know most people think of this as a COVID precaution, but truthfully even before the pandemic started, no one wanted to catch a cold or the flu while traveling. Using hand sanitizer and wipes will help keep you healthy so you can avoid coming home with a new illness.
Last but not least - storage for when you get there!
Traveling to a place outside of your normal routine is so fun, but not always easy. Sometimes you can feel like a fish-out-of-water when you don’t have simple luxuries from home.
That’s why I always pack a few items to help with organization & storage for when I arrive at my destination. It helps me feel more put together so I can focus on what I’m there to do: relax!
- Travel Pouch - A perfect place to store your makeup and electronics chargers. My daughter likes to use zippy pouches to store her colored pencils and markers.
- Useful Tote - I always grab an extra tote for vacation so I have a cute way to carry around our excursion essentials each day. My purse never seems to be big enough.
- Jewelry Storage and Travel Pouch - Be sure to pack your necklaces, bracelets and earrings safely. Try our best selling jewelry roll to help you keep your necklaces from tangling and your jewelry safe while on the go.
